Simple Sciatic Stretches For Fast Pain Relief

(Obviously she does NOT :-) )

A while back I posted a video demonstrating one of the best sciatic stretches out there. Well, I've found another video, courtesy of back pain/sciatica expert, personal trainer and co-founder of The Healthy Back Institute Jesse Cannone, showing some more advanced - and for some people - even more effective sciatic stretches. You can easily perform them anywhere you can comfortably lie down - Use somewhere with a mat or carpet or just the bare floor; at home, at the gym; whatever works for you.

The tension release provided by these sciatica stretches will provide great pain relief within a short time... OK here's that cool little video now:

These stretches are of course treating the symptom not the cause(s) - but in any case these *will* help greatly. I recommend doing both the sitting sciatic stretches in the previous video here AND these lying down variations but at different times in the day as convenient for your schedule. Start slow, pay close attention to good form, and above all listen to your body - it'll tell you how fast to progress.

Do you want to learn what REALLY causes conditions like sciatica, the many types of back pain, neck pain, etc? Would you love to know HOW to fix the real problem and eliminate the pain you or a loved one suffers with once and for all? Then claim your Free Copy of the breakthrough book, The 7-Day Back Pain Cure by the world expert himself Jesse Cannone.

I'm going through this book right now and I'm convinced it really is the back pain relief and sciatic pain relief Answer millions have been hoping for. Now you can discover the exact, easy ways to wipe out sciatic pain in the comfort of your own home.

Right now, make sure to try those sciatic stretches - They'll work if you work them...

Revealed: The REAL Reason You Have Neck Pain...

It's funny how everything in your body is connected like a single... tightly wrapped piece of fiber.

When one area hurts, it reduces the function of another. If one organ isn't functioning properly... you feel it throughout your entire body. World champion athlete and bestselling author Matt Furey once said, "For great health you don't just focus on the muscles. The muscles matter not if even ONE organ in your body runs amuck. See how strong your legs are when a kidney fails. Or how powerful your chest if your heart has an attack. Or how far you can throw a football if your spleen is ruptured."

So true - But guess what? Your muscles are organs too! And if even one of your muscles is in agony – it strips the focus straight out of you and makes it nearly impossible to have a good workout (or a good day at work, or a good day period!)

This is something a buddy of mine was complaining to me about the other day.

His neck had been bothering him for a few days and it was killing his workouts. Then he started popping pain pills and then his stomach started bothering him. (Aren't drugs wonderful?)

He asked me for some help...

… and here's the website I sent him to ← click here!

This letter was written by Jesse Cannone and Dr. Brian Paris. Jesse is one the world's leading experts on back pain and neck pain... and Dr. Paris is a chiropractor specializing in neck pain and all-natural, drug-free solutions to fixing neck pain.

I sent it to him, and he LOVED it.

What I think you'll find most interesting is the part about WHY you have neck pain.

Trust me – it's not what you think.

I've always thought my neck hurt because of injuries, herniated discs, strains... and things like that.

… but I was wrong.

If you've ever suffered from chronic, makes-you-massage-your-own-neck pain like I have... you'll find it interesting as well. It's filled with great content and will make you think twice about ever going to the doctor again – I can tell you that much!

Sciatic Stretches: The Back Pain Guide - Inflammation

The following is an excerpt from “The Back Pain Guide”...

Eight Pain Reducers For Faster Pain Relief
Ways to deal with the pain while you’re starting your personalized treatment program

I've learned over the years after working with and helping over 50,000 back-pain  sufferers, with every condition known to medicine and major traumatic injuries, that there are three things back-pain sufferers need to address to live pain free:

1. You need to learn how to reduce acute pain quickly when it flares up.
2. You need to get rid of the underlying root cause of pain (this goes deeper than simply fixing a diagnosed back condition as you'll see in a few minutes)
3. You need to address the emotional and mental factors that increase
pain.

For some people the only treatment they ever need is the muscle balance therapy system we give you in Lose The Back Pain, for other, more severe cases, muscle balance therapy gets them 90% of the way and they need to try a handful of additional treatments to live pain free.

I'll explain how muscle imbalances and physical dysfunctions are a major contributor and cause of back pain in the second section of this guide.
But first I want to go over several pain-reduction strategies and treatments for acute pain that you can use right now to start feeling better, faster.
One big word of caution: Don't overlook the simple things.
Over and over again I've found that people suffer through chronic pain needlessly because they aren't taking good basic care of their bodies. And some of the fastest reductions in pain can come from something as simple as strategy number three below.

Pain Reducer One:
The FIRST THING you MUST do if you have back pain is to control inflammation in your body. Here's why:

Studies have shown inflammation is the #1 cause of pain in your body. Now, let me make this clear. Inflammation is NOT the underlying cause of all of your back pain – but it IS the major mechanism in your body that causes you to experience pain.

•You have tissue inflammation if you have upper or lower back pain ...
•You have tissue inflammation if you have serious back conditions like upper and lower back pain, sciatica pain, herniated discs, scoliosis, arthritis or other conditions ...
•And you have tissue inflammation if you've injured your back in an accident, playing sports, or through a lifetime of hard, physical work …
•Every part of your body where you feel pain in your muscles you can be pretty sure you have tissue inflammation …

Inflammation is the #1 pain-causing mechanism in your body. So the first thing I recommend you do if you want to quickly get rid of your acute pain is to cut down the excess inflammation in your body. Then we can start to address the underlying causes of your back pain.

A new back-pain study published in The American Journal of Roentgenology found 80% of back-pain sufferers experienced soft-tissue inflammation in and around their spine.

This is a critical point if you're suffering from any type of back pain. Because there are ONLY two basic physiological types of pain: tissue-pain and nerve-pain.

•If you have a back condition you probably suffer from BOTH types of pain. If you have sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis or some other condition your pain is probably “mixed pain”.
You have BOTH tissue-pain caused by inflammation in your muscles and soft-tissue that causes nerve-pain by exerting pressure on your nerves (sciatica is a perfect example of this).
•If you injured your back the pain you’re feeling is almost all inflammation related. Because inflammation is your body's natural reaction to trauma. And at the age of 25 your body started to slow production of the enzymes that fight inflammation – which is why when you sprained your ankle at 15 it healed in a couple of weeks but at 45 it can take months to heal.

First though, think about your own back-pain for a second.
•Do your back muscles hurt? If so, your pain is definitely caused to some degree by inflammation. To get rid of your pain you'll have to first, get rid of the inflammation and second, get rid of any ongoing causes of inflammation.
•Do you feel a lot of nerve-pain? Things like, shooting lines of pain, burning, numbness, pinching tend to be nerve-pain. But guess what? Often the pressure and pinching of the nerve is because the surrounding tissue is inflamed and expanded!

That's why the study found soft-tissue inflammation in 80% of back-pain sufferers. Because even when your pain is caused by damage to nerves in your spine some of the pain you feel is a result of inflammation in the surrounding tissue.

To get lasting pain relief you need to address the things in your body causing your muscle-related pain and causing your nerve-related pain.....

Sciatic Stretches: Sciatic Pain Relief

What Is Sciatica?

Contrary to popular misconception, sciatica isn't a physical condition. It's actually a set of symptoms describing radiating pain which travels down from a pinched or irritated sciatic nerve.

Pain symptoms from sciatica, usually caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve, can vary significantly from one person to the next. Usually starting in the lower back, sciatic pain can radiate through the pelvis, buttocks and down the back of the leg. Usually symptoms are only felt on one side of the body.

Depending on the source of trouble, sciatic pain may be felt in the foot or even all the way to the toes. Sciatic nerve pain intensity can range from minor to severe, causing burning or aching sensations.

Sciatica also causes tingling, numbness or weakness in the affected areas in some cases. Increased pain or numbness is common while sitting down.

What conditions cause sciatic nerve pain?

Relief from sciatic nerve pain begins with an understanding of the condition which caused the pain in the first place. In each condition, either the sciatic nerve itself or one of the five nerve roots leading to it become compressed or irritated.

The most common conditions associated with sciatica include a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, piriformis syndrome and spinal trauma.

Herniated discs
in the lumbar region may cause sciatic nerve pain by compressing one of the sciatic nerve roots when pressure on the spinal disc causes it to bulge or rupture. Spinal disc herniation is one of the most common causes of sciatica.

Spinal stenosis
is a condition where the spinal canal space becomes constricted due to inflammation, bone spurs, or other causes. When this occurs in the lower back, nerve roots associated with the sciatic nerve may get pinched causing sciatic nerve pain.

Spondylolisthesis
is a condition where one vertebra slides across another during certain activities instead of maintaining its proper position. Spondylolisthesis can irritate or place painful pressure on sciatic nerve roots.

Piriformis syndrome
occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or irritated by the piriformis muscle. About 15% of people have their sciatic nerve running through the piriformis muscle, leaving them predisposed to sciatic pain.

Spinal trauma
, such as impact from a car accident, can damage the spine or cause the vertebrae to become misaligned from each other. This misalignment can pinch or rub against and irritate the sciatic nerve or related nerve roots.

Sciatic pain relief using traditional methods

Treatments for sciatic pain relief commonly include some combination of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen, heat treatments, ultrasound, therapeutic exercises, and cortisone injections.

These may provide pain relief for the symptoms of sciatica, but they won't fix the underlying problem. Even if the sciatica pain goes away on its own, it's likely to recur unless the condition that originally caused it is resolved.

How to get long-lasting sciatic nerve pain relief

While NSAIDs and other traditional treatment methods for sciatica pain relief may help temporarily, permanent sciatic pain relief is possible by addressing the root cause. Depending on what the source of your sciatica is, one of the following therapies may provide long-term relief:

Inversion therapy
is excellent for relieving compression pressure, especially from herniated discs. Daily use of an inversion table will allow you to gradually incline your body head-down until you can remain upside down for 5-15 minutes twice daily.

While upside down, gravity gently pulls your spine in the opposite direction allowing the vertebrae to relax enough to allow injured spinal discs to recover their proper shape. Increased circulation also helps herniated discs to receive the necessary blood supply and oxygen to heal more quickly.

Muscle balance therapy
addresses the problem of postural dysfunctions caused by muscle groups that pull unevenly against your spine and other bones. This is a great tool to recover from muscle strain lower back pain too.

Trigger point therapy
, often used in conjunction with muscle balance therapy, relieves tiny contraction knots in muscles that can lead to “referred” pain – where you feel pain at a different location than the source. Trigger point therapy may just lead to relief from those tricky pains that seem to have no other solution.

Finally, remember that sciatic nerve pain is only a symptom of an underlying condition. Getting long-term sciatic nerve pain relief requires the resolution of the problem causing the pain. Don't be fooled into equating "feels better" with "fixed the problem." Find a knowledgeable healthcare practitioner to accurately diagnose your condition and recommend the best treatment methods. Sciatic Stretches: Top 5 Causes of Back, Neck and Sciatic Pain

One of the reasons so many people struggle with back pain and all the many variations of it, is because the majority of the treatments recommended by doctors don’t address the main causes of the pain…

So I wanted to make sure that you know what the most common causes are and how to address them… because it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever hear about any of this from your doctor… Ok, here it goes…

Top 5 Causes of Back, Neck and Sciatic Pain

1. Excess Stress / Negative Beliefs
Yes, this is #1 on the list and while many people doubt or question it, excess stress and negative beliefs are what keep most people in pain.
For example, many people get some relief from physical treatments, but can never seem to get complete or lasting relief… and that’s because the the mind is keeping the body from healing completely.
Don’t underestimate the power of the mind… you can learn more about how stress, emotions and beliefs cause pain here

Imbalances in our muscles create what we call dysfunctions… basically, the muscles pull your body out of alignment (not just your spine) and your body is forced to function like this and eventually it breaks down.
Muscle imbalances are the biggest “physical” cause of back related conditions and pain (and many other ailments also like foot pain, knee pain, hip pain, etc)
The good news is, identifying and correcting (it’s really more about improving) your muscle imbalances is pretty easy… you just have to know which imbalances you have and the right combination of corrective exercises and stretches…
This is exactly what we help you to do in our Lose the Back Pain System… Tens of thousands of people have used this simple system to eliminate their pain… and many of these people had struggled for years or decades before trying our system.
Right now you can try the system for $30 OFF… that’s a huge savings and because we have an online version, you can get started right away. In order to get the discount, you must enter the following coupon code when ordering: LTBP30
This coupon is good for both the DVD version or the ONLINE version… and when you order the DVD version, you also get instant access to the online version as well… But this coupon is only good for the next 3 days.
Picture this… you wake up tomorrow morning feeling rested, you get out of bed feeling less stiff and with no pain… You go about your day feeling great and doing all the things you haven’t been able to do for weeks, months or years…
Yes, it IS possible… and I promise that if you use the system you too will see significant improvements… better sleep… improved flexibility… increased strength… increased energy… less or no pain… and the list goes on and on.

Ok, now for the 3 other causes…

3. Spinal Compression / Torsion
Another major physical cause of back related conditions and pain is, spinal compression and torsion. The muscle imbalances pull your spine out of alignment and create excess curvature and this places increased pressure on the discs…
Then you add to it some torsion (twisting of the spine) and it gets even worse. The combination of the uneven and excessive compression and the torsion wreak havoc on the discs… causing them to bulge or herniate.
Again there is some good news… not only can discs heal, but you can undo or reduce the excessive compression and torsion by addressing your muscle imbalances and by decompressing the spine… This can be done with devices like an inversion table, the Nubax or it can be performed by a physical therapist or chiropractor.

4. Trigger Points
Often responsible for much of the undiagnosed pain people experience, trigger points are a major factor when it comes to back, neck and sciatic pain…
Trigger points are complex and there are many things that contribute to their development… and to make it worse, they often cause pain in other parts of the body. For example, a trigger point in the gluteal can cause pain in the lower leg.
The good news is, they are also easy to locate and treat yourself. You can learn more about trigger points here.

5. Nutritional Imbalances
Yes, what you eat can help you heal or it can keep you in pain. Not only are there specific foods that create inflammation, but imbalances in minerals and nutrients are a major factor…
For example, you can have too much calcium and not enough magnesium and this can create calcification (stenosis, bone spurs, etc)… Keep in mind this is just one example… there are many others.

So here’s a quick list of foods to avoid:
- Sugar
- Wheat
- Dairy
- Artificial flavors / colors
And here are some foods/nutrients to eat more of:
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids (fish or supplement)
- Spices (Ginger, Tumeric)
- Antioxidants (vitamin C, selenium, quercetin)
- Vitamin D

Well, I hope you found this helpful. Be sure to follow the links and learn more about these 5 major causes.
And last, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask… we’re here for ya :)
